RESISTIR R&D project

Project nº 3379 (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-003379)

RESISTIR aims to create an innovative modular information system, intelligent and adaptable to support clinical decision making in the field of antimicrobial resistance, infection control, epidemiological surveillance and hospital management. RESISTIR allows to support medical decision-making in personalized antibiotherapy, contributing to a more efficient use of antibiotics and a better matching of therapeutics to each patient and clinical case. RESISTIR also supports the identification and control of epidemiological anomalies (hospital and community-borne outbreaks), contributing to the alignment with new national and international policies for infection control and antimicrobial resistance.

RESISTIR combines cutting edge technology with innovative techniques on data mining, statistics, epidemiology, linked data, numerical modelling, machine learning and semantic technologies to produce outputs in human-readable format, allowing analysis and adaptation to epidemiological changes in near real time. The architecture of RESISTIR is based on two types of units: the individual nodes (RESISTIR-APP) and the central node (RESISTIR-CORE). RESISTIR-APP nodes will reside at the health-care facilities, and are responsible for data collection and presentation of results. The central node is responsible for analysing the collected data and automatic creation of infection detection models, forecasting resistance, treatment failure and epidemiological surveillance.

The project consortium, Maxdata Software, SA and Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, through its multidisciplinary teams, gathers knowledge in various areas of nuclear know how of the project: life sciences and information systems.

RESISTIR will allow the creation of a new product with differentiating features that reinforce decisively the ability of internationalization of Maxdata.
